Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare to survey cultural safety processes within organisation
  • Investigate and record existing and past cultural safety policy in the organisation
  • Assist in preparing a survey to investigate current cultural climate
  • Confirm survey methods are appropriate with management and with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Authority
       
Element: Conduct cultural safety awareness survey
  • Canvass management and staff through approved survey
  • Ensure process is outlined to participants, and permissions given to document responses
  • Document responses and report outcomes to management
       
Element: Support the development and implementation of the cultural safety process
  • Analyse documented responses to survey
  • Assist in developing the process according to standard workplace formats and management
  • Gain approvals from management and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People to implement process
  • Promote the newly developed process to all members of the organisation
       
Element: Evaluate effectiveness of cultural safety process
  • Assist in preparing follow-up questions and conduct surveys to gauge effectiveness of new processes after an agreed, appropriate timeframe
  • Compare and document newly implemented processes to past established processes
  • Revise processes according to responses received
  • Report final outcome of revised processes to management

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts.
